Rachel was born and raised in Portland, Oregon and went to the University of Oregon where she competed for the Duck volleyball team as well as threw the Javelin for the Track and Field team. After graduating with a degree in Economics she began pursuing Track and Field as a profession. In 2009 she became the first American woman since 1983 to place in the top 12 at a World Championship competition, in 2010 she was ranked #1 Javelin Thrower in the United States. In the last four years she has represented the United States on two World Championship teams and was a member of the 2012 Summer Olympic team in London.
Off the track Rachel is an outgoing, driven person who loves to be healthy. In 2010 she was featured in ESPN’s magazine THE BODY ISSUE as a “Body We Wish We Had”. She enjoys playing some good old recreational volleyball, getting out for a long run, cooking, traveling, going on hikes with her husband Piotrek and their dog Pepper, and relaxing with a glass of wine and friends.
Rachel has acquired the following experience throughout her training and career; 4 years as a Division 1 Track and Field Athlete and 4 years and counting as a professional, CrossFit Level 1 CertifiedWhile at the University she was a four time All American and claimed two back-to-back national titles throwing the javelin.
